World’s fastest Man United fan says players don’t like Louis van Gaal’s style

Usain Bolt to Manchester United? We'll find out on Tuesday morning

One of the world’s most popular athletes – who just so happens to be both a Man United fan and a hopeful prospect in his own mind – has emerged as the latest critic of embattled manager Louis van Gaal.

In a recent interview, per the Daily Star, world champion sprinter Usain Bolt said that while he hopes he can one day play for the team, he was tired of the Dutch manager’s tenure at Old Trafford and believes the Man United players are fed up too.

“I supported Manchester United for years,” Bolt said.

“I would still love to play for them, but if Louis Van Gaal is the coach, not so much.”

The 29-year-old Bolt explained that the pass-heavy style of football Van Gaal preaches does not work for the attacking-specialist players that make up a large portion of the roster

“It has been up and down. I wouldn’t say I’m happy.

“I think a lot of players don’t want to come to the team under Van Gaal. I think players don’t want to play for him.

“He plays a different style of football which Manchester United doesn’t really play.

“We are more of an attacking team and he likes to pass the ball.

“I’m not saying he’s not a good coach but, personally, I just think he’s not right for Manchester United.”

Back in 2011, Bolt told BBC that he could play football after he retires from running. Bolt has six Olympic gold medals and owns the world records for the 100m, 200m and 4x100m relays.

While Bolt would be hard-pressed to get a spot on the Man United roster even when he retires from track and field, he probably won’t have to worry about Louis van Gaal being there if the Red Devils fail to pick up the win against AFC Bournemouth on Sunday.
