Roberto Martinez’s turbulent time at Goodison Park is now over.
The Spanish hipster boss was sacked on Thursday afternoon, less than 24 hours after the Toffees endured their ninth winless game in 10 by going down 3-0 at Sunderland.
With Martinez out, the big question is who will the next Everton manager be?

De Boer is the favourite to replace Martinez. The Dutch legend is now unattached, after leaving Ajax today after six years in Amsterdam.
Mark Hughes
Current job: Stoke City
Best odds: 8/1
Sparky was briefly a player with Everton in the early Noughties and he could be tempted to return as a manager. Despite what the Premier League table is saying, the Britannia Stadium to Goodison Park would be a step up in stature.
Ronald Koeman
Current job: Southampton
Best odds: 8/1
Southampton and Stoke are very similar clubs in terms of size, but the Saints are much better on the pitch. In fact, Koeman’s current club are way ahead of Everton too in that regard, but he could still fancy the challenge.
Manuel Pellegrini
Current job: Manchester City (not for long)
Best odds: 12/1
Pellegrini has had 11 jobs in management, so it would be no surprise if he went to Everton. He’s done much worse (and better, of course) before.
David Moyes
Current job: none
Best odds: 14/1
The man who was replaced by Martinez lost the respect of many Blues when he left for Manchester United in 2013. He’d be a safe pair of hands though.
Rafael Benitez
Current job: Newcastle
Best odds: 16/1
He won’t be hanging around for a season in the Championship, so Benitez is likely to be moving jobs this summer. His family are based on Merseyside, making Everton a very attractive proposition. Yes, he used to managed Liverpool – winning the Champions League! – but going from Red to Blue is much more forgivable than the other way round.
Jose Mourinho
Current job: None
Best odds: 25/1
If Manchester United keep messing him around, the Special One might get desperate, but we won’t be sticking our quid on him taking over from Martinez.
