Liverpool have four games left to play this season, but only one of them matters.
With a top-four finish out of reach, the three remaining Premier League fixtures are now nothing more than sharpeners for the Europa League final against Sevilla on May 18.
A victory over Sevilla in Basle would not only deliver a ninth major European trophy to Anfield, it would also secure Champions League football next season.
Sevilla are a decent side. And they are experts when it comes to the Europa League, having won the competition in each of the last two years.
However, the current La Liga table shows that they 12 points worse than Villarreal – a side who were comfortably outclassed by the Reds over two legs.
So, in theory, Liverpool should go into the final as favourites. And they will – every UK bookmaker has the Reds marginally odds-on to lift the trophy which Sevilla have monopolised in recent times.
The main concern for Reds supporters is the form of Kevin Gameiro – Sevilla’s leading scorer, who has bagged nine goals in his last nine outings.

Many believe that, if Liverpool can stop Gameiro, they will come home victorious.
But how to stop him? That was the question posed by ForIAmTalon on Reddit on Friday. His thread, titled ‘How to deal with Kevin Gameiro’, got 25 responses.
Among the comments was one common theme – Dejan Lovren!
There were some suggestions that didn’t mention Lovren.
And a couple of Kopites were actually more concerned about Gameiro’s teammates.
