Olivier Giroud was credited with an assist after setting up Danny Welbeck for the only goal in Arsenal’s 1-0 win over Norwich on Saturday.
However, the Frenchman’s failure to convert his own chances is becoming a serious cause for concern.
Giroud, who was off target with each of his two shots at the Emirates, has now gone 15 games without scoring a Premier League goal.
Since bagging a brace in a 3-3 draw at Liverpool on January 13, Arsenal’s well-groomed frontman has failed to hit the net against Stoke, Chelsea, Southampton, Bournemouth, Leicester, Man United, Swansea, Spurs, Everton, Watford, West Ham, Crystal Palace, West Brom, Sunderland and now Norwich.
Giroud’s 15-game drought is joint-longest barren run of any striker in the Premier League right now. Swansea’s Bafatembi Gomis has also gone 15 matches without scoring.
The Mirror claim that Newcastle’s Siem de Jong is the most out-of-form striker in the Prem, having failed to bag in 17 games.
However, De Jong is not really a striker – he’s more of an attacking midfielder.
So, according to our calculations, there is no striker in England’s top flight who is currently playing stinkier than Giroud.
