International hitman responds directly to Barcelona transfer rumours, leaves door open to possible switch

Sevilla striker Kevin Gameiro has responded directly when asked about rumours linking him with a move to Barcelona.

While the hitman has hinted that he wouldn’t consider a move this summer, he has left the door open to a potential switch in the future.

The French forward has been in fine form in La Liga this season, scoring 16 goals in 31 outings for the Spanish heavyweights, helping them to seventh in the table with three games to play.

He’s also scored four in the Europa League, as Sevilla have advanced to the semi-finals and remain in with a shout to retain their crown.

Speaking on RTL‘s Club Liza show, the forward has insisted that he isn’t considering a move to Barcelona and is focused on his future with Sevilla.

“Barcelona? I still have two years left at Sevilla,” the forward began. “I am really happy here. We’ll see what happens after that.”

Gameiro was formed at Racing Club de Strasbourg, and moved to FC Lorient in 2008. With Les Merlus he established himself as one of Ligue 1’s finest frontmen, and secured a switch to domestic heavyweights Paris Saint-Germain in 2011.

While he won the French title in 2013, the forward was lost in the shuffle at PSG and moved onto Sevilla after two season—and 19 league goals—in the French capital.

During his time in Spain, he has twice won the Europa League.
