It looks likely that Mehmet Topal will be Tottenham Hotspur’s first summer signing this year.
The 30-year-old midfield hard man is currently in the final few months of his contract with Fenerbahce.
And, according to Fanatik, Topal has agreed in principle to join Spurs on a free transfer at the end of the season.
The Turkish publication suggest that Spurs are long-term admirers of Topal, claiming that a €6m deal was proposed earlier this season.

Topal would become the first Turk to play for Spurs, who presumably see the 56-time international as someone who could provide cover for the likes of Mousa Dembele and Eric Dier.
Dier has played in 47 of Tottenham’s 49 games this season, while Dembele has also been an ever-present when fit.
However, with Spurs set to return to the Champions League next term, it is generally considered that Mauricio Pochettino will need to bulk up his squad, allowing for more rotation and creating a contingency plan for if his star men get injured.
Although it has been known for Topal to score the odd long-range screamer, he is primarily a tough-tackling defensive midfielder.
His nicknames include ‘The Spider’ and ‘Spiderman’ because of his ability to steal the ball with his long legs (like spiders do, you know?).
