Video: Juventus 4-0 Palermo report – Khedira bags superb goal but Marchisio suffers injury scare

Chelsea are considering hiring Massimiliano Allegri

Juventus sealed a 4-0 win over Palermo in Turin on Sunday as they move closer to securing a fifth consecutive Serie A title.

Goals from Sami Khedira, Paul Pogba, Juan Cuadrado and Simone Padoin sealed all three points, which move the Bianconeri nine points above nearest rivals Napoli with just five games remaining.

Cuadrado’s solo effort as seen above was certainly the highlight of the second half, as the home side overcame some sloppiness to end the first period to secure a comfortable victory.

Nevertheless, their afternoon was soured to an extent with midfielder Claudio Marchisio suffering what appeared to be a serious knee injury.

The Juve and Italy midfielder will now undergo further tests to determine the extent of the damage, but having been stretchered off the pitch in real discomfort, it is likely that it could be a severe setback.

That in turn will be a blow to both Massimiliano Allegri and Italy boss Antonio Conte, although both men will await the results of further tests before making any decisions.

After Napoli slipped up at Inter on Saturday night, Juve took full advantage and are now seemingly on the brink of another title success with five games remaining and a nine-point buffer in their favour.

Given that they have won 22 of their last 23 Serie A games, it is difficult to argue against them deserving the title, with the likes of Napoli and Roma simply unable to keep up the pace over the course of the campaign.

Khedira’s first-half effort was undoubtedly the goal of the game, as the Juventus Stadium celebrated at the full-time whistle with another league title looking inevitable.
