Divock Origi has lifted the lid on Jurgen Klopp‘s inspirational half-time teamtalk during Liverpool‘s remarkable 4-3 victory over Borussia Dortmund on Thursday.
The first leg at the Westfalenstadion finished in a 1-1 draw, and little could prepare fans of these two sides for the drama in store for them at Anfield in the return fixture.
BVB tore into a two-goal lead, and appeared destined to romp to the semi-finals following early goals from Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Liverpool responded after the break through Origi, but a strike from Marco Reus nine minutes later looked set to kill the home side’s resolve.
However, under Klopp, Liverpool are made of stern stuff, and completed their outstanding comeback with three goals in the final 25 minutes, as Philippe Coutinho, Mamadou Sakho and Dejan Lovren sent Anfield into delirious celebration.
Speaking to BT Sport after the match, Origi revealed exactly what Klopp said in order to motivate his troops.

“We were 2-0 down at half-time – and the coach said we had to create the moment to tell our grandchildren and make it a special night for the fans,” the forward began, “and we believed in it.

“I think we deserved the win.”
