AZ forward Vincent Janssen has been the breakout star of the 2015-16 Eredivisie season, leading the league in scoring and lifting his team from a mid-season bottom-ten ranking into the top-six. Now his strong play in the Netherlands is earning looks from the Premier League, and Jurgen Klopp seems to be jumping to the front of the line to sign him.
According to Don Balon, Liverpool are preparing a bid for the £9.6 million-rated Dutch forward at the end of the season. The Metro reported that Janssen could very well replace one of several Liverpool strikers who have not produced as expected this term – either Christian Benteke, Daniel Sturridge or Divock Origi.
Janssen has 21 league goals so far this season, giving him the lead in Eredivisie ahead of PSV striker Luuk de Jong’s 20. He recorded a hat-trick against Feyenoord back in January.
Last year’s Eredivisie leading scorer, Memphis Depay, signed for Man United this past summer but has struggled transitioning to English football (and/or Louis van Gaal’s schemes).
