Man City superstar considering move to buy out his own contract after broken promises

According to reports, Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure is set to invite his club to give him a free transfer this summer, with the international considering a move to buy out his own contract if the club don’t comply.

The Mirror report that the player’s agent Dimitri Seluk has contacted the tabloid to reveal that the club’s director of football, Txiki Begiristain has broken promises to meet and discuss negotiations on a contract extension for the West African.

With City appearing to be unwilling to offer the powerhouse a new three-year contract, the player and his agent are intending to use Article 17 of Fifa’s transfer regulations to pay compensation for City and buy out the remaining year of the veteran’s deal.

The article indicates this would be a last resort, with Seluk and Toure set to invite the club to offer the midfield stalwart a free transfer this summer.

The Ivorian moved to City in 2010 following a stint with Barcelona, and has become a legend at the Etihad Stadium.

He has won two Premier League titles with the Sky Blues, and also helped the Citizens to the FA Cup in 2011.
