All things considered, Arsenal striker Alexis Sanchez is actually having a decent season with 12 goals and nine assists this year. But with injuries having cost him over a quarter of the season, the Chilean striker admitted that he might have played better if not for fear of getting hurt.
Speaking to the media this past week [per the Metro], Sanchez admitted that his various injuries have been very painful to work back from and that he was ‘scared’ that he might get injured again when there was a setback.
‘Before my injury I was 100 per cent fit. I was feeling well. After the injury I wanted to get back but it was hard,’ Sanchez said
‘I had a setback and when I played a match, I was scared I would get injured again because the thing I like most in the world is playing football and when I can’t play, I feel sad.
‘Football is my passion, my life and I always want to win.
‘If I lose, I always go home sad, I can’t sleep and that upsets me. When I win, my team-mates are happy and enjoy their families the next day. Football is my life.
‘I think I have adapted well to the club but I am never satisfied with what I do. I want to win the Premier League, the Champions League. I always want to win everything.’
During the 2014-15 season, Sanchez finished fifth in scoring with 16 goals and finished with 25 goals in 52 total matches played. He went on to represent Chile in the Copa America and won the tournament for his country.
However, Sanchze has been hampered by numerous injuries this season, missing nearly three months of action after sustaining a hamstring injury in November.
