Juventus left-back and former Manchester United star Patrice Evra has weighed in on the ongoing sextape scandal involving Mathieu Valbuena and Karim Benzema.
The latter was unsurprisingly left out of Didier Deschamps’s France squad for Les Bleus’ upcoming friendlies against the Netherlands and Russia, having been banned from selection by the French football federation.
The reason for the player’s ongoing suspension is because of his alleged involvement in a blackmail case involving teammate Valbuena and a sextape that is understood to ‘star’ the Olympique Lyonnais playmaker.
Valbuena has also missed out on Deschamps’s latest France squad due to a recent loss of form, and Evra is concerned that Les Bleus are shooting themselves in the foot only months ahead of this summer’s showpiece.
“Who is wrong, who is right?” Evra began, speaking to RTL [as per GFNF] The only thing that I can say is that we shot ourselves in the foot twice, that is it, I do not need to add anything to that.
“Both of them will remain my friends for life… Didier says to us each time, there will not be any more stories that come out before these Euros.
“It will be time to leave us alone, so that we can think about what happens on the pitch, about working, about winning consistently.”

Evra has been named in the France squad along with AS Roma left-back Lucas Digne, who appears to have seen off competition from Layvin Kurzawa of Paris Saint-Germain to secure a spot for himself as the backup full-back.
The former United star has previously represented France at Euro 2008 and 2012, as well as the World Cup in 2010 and 2014.
