Manchester United are chasing the signature of Valencia star Andre Gomes, according to The Mirror.
The Mirror reports that the 22-year-old midfielder would be allowed to leave Gary Neville’s side if a team meets the £19.5m release clause in his contract, which runs until 2020 at the Spanish club.
Juventus are also keen on the Portugal international, who has four caps since his 2014 debut, but The Mirror understands that Gomes favours the opportunity to play in the Premier League.
Gomes only joined Valencia permanently from Benfica last summer, after a successful loan spell, but he and several of his teammates may be looking for a way out after a poor season at the Mestalla.
Neville is trying to steer Valencia away from relegation trouble, but the former United defender has only won three of his 16 La La games in charge, and Los Che are just six points above trouble.
Gomes has been one of the shining lights in the centre of the park, and United might see him as the type of player who can inject some youthful enthusiasm into a slow and ageing midfield unit.
