Arsenal have been dealt another devastating injury blow with the news that winger Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain could miss the rest of the season, the Daily Mail reports.
A collision with Barcelona defender Javier Mascherano during Tuesday night’s Champions League clash has apparently garnered both knee and ankle damage and he is now expected to sit out of England’s friendlies with Germany and the Netherlands next month.
The 22-year-old reportedly left the Emirates on crutches after the game and could face three months on the sidelines, though that is being considered as a best case scenario.
The Gunners have been plagued by injuries to a number of key players already this season and with Chamberlain continuing to struggle to fully establish himself in the side this will come as another setback in his short career.
There are also doubts that he won’t be fit enough to make the trip to France for England’s Euro 2016 plans.
