Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema has admitted that he lied to his French national team colleague Mathieu Valbuena about the existence of a sex tape amid an ongoing case into blackmail, according to Le Parisien (via Daily Mirror).
The French publication printed extracts from Benzema’s hearing with a judge last month where he allegedly said that he had not watched Valbuena’s sex tape despite telling the Lyon forward that he had.
“I should have told him I had not seen it,” Benzema was quoted as telling the judge.
“I was showing off, I was acting…It’s like when you describe a movie you have not seen. I have never seen that video.”
Benzema came under investigation for his role in the supposed blackmail in November, after approaching Valbuena while on national team duty in October.
However, while his case is ongoing, the Madrid man has been suspended indefinitely by Didier Deschamps and could miss this summer’s tournament because of it.
