Manchester United are looking for an extra defender to add to replace some of their injured starters in the final hours of the transfer window. It appears that the club could be eyeing Olympiacos right-back Omar Elabdellaoui as their last target of Deadline Day.
According to the Metro, Omar Elabdellaoui’s agent has been in talks with the club about a transfer switch ahead of the evening transfer deadline. The 24-year-old Norwegian back can also play right winger and could fill the void left by the injured Marcos Rojo, Antonio Valencia, Luke Shaw, Ashley Young and Matteo Darmian.
Elabdellaoui spent his youth career with Man City, never making a first-team appearance for the Citizens but going out on loan for several seasons before finally landing at Olympiacos in 2014. Since 2013, Elabdellaoui has been capped 19 times for his native Norway.
This year, Elabdellaoui started all six of Olympiacos’s Champions League matches, earning three yellow cards en route to a third-place finish in Group F.
