Former Arsenal midfielder Lassana Diarra has revealed how he’s taking inspiration from Chelsea legend Didier Drogba at Olympique de Marseille.
Diarra—who featured for both Chelsea and Arsenal—has endured a tough few months; he was axed by Real Madrid and had a long spell on the sidelines after a dispute at previous club Lokomotiv Moscow.
However, having moved to OM during the summer, the defensive midfielder has finally rediscovered his top form and, after a series of fine and commanding performances in Ligue 1, has even re-established himself in the France side after many years out of the picture.
Indeed, at the time of writing, the energetic midfielder is well placed to start for Les Bleus on home soil at the 2016 European Championships next summer.
Speaking to Le 10 Sport, Diarra has revealed the secret behind his success at OM—that he modelled himself on former Marseille star Drogba.
“I take the example of Didier Drogba,” the midfielder began, “with whom I played.
“He’s a fighter!”
