Dele Alli contract: Tottenham prodigy signs bumper new deal until 2021 at White Hart Lane

Dele Alli has signed a contract extension that commits him to Tottenham Hotspur until 2021.

The 19-year-old midfielder has taken the Premier League by storm since joining up with Tottenham in the summer, having been signed in January for £5m from MK Dons – fee reported by BBC Sport.

Alli has scored five goals and supplied three assists in 26 Spurs appearances this season, and has already become a key member of a Mauricio Pochettino side who are being tipped as outsiders for the title.

He earned England recognition from Roy Hodgson in October, and made an almost immediate impact on the international stage as he thumped in a stunning goal in November’s 2-0 victory over France.

His form has reportedly attracted attention from French giants Paris Saint-Germain, according to The Sun, but Tottenham have confirmed that they have tied down the teenage prodigy to a long-term deal.

“I’m delighted. The club has been really great to me since I arrived, we’ve a great young team and I can only see us going forward. I’m really happy to be here,” Alli told Tottenham’s Twitter account.

Alli’s new contract is likely to come with a significant pay rise. The London Evening Standard reported last week that he was poised to at least double his wages from £10,000 to £20,000 per week.

This would be in line with Tottenham’s policy of rewarding their best youngsters with bumper new contracts once they have proven themselves with a series of consistent first-team performances.

Eric Dier, Ryan Mason, Nabil Bentaleb and Harry Kane have all penned new deals at White Hart Lane over the past 12 months as Pochettino looks to build a squad which can bring Spurs long-term glory.
