Chelsea are said to be closing in on making a bid for highly-rated Bologna youngster Amadou Diawara, according to reports in Spain.
The 18-year-old has been a mainstay in the Bologna first team this season, making 17 Serie A appearances so far and his performances have caught the Blues’ attention.
A team of representatives flew out from Stamford Bridge to meet with the player’s team last week, where talks revealed that Chelsea have been encouraged to make an offer.
They will now lodge a formal offer for Diawara, and attempt to fight off any interest from elsewhere for his signature.
It is believed that while Roman Abramovic is focussing most of his attention on finding a new manager for the summer, he is also prepared to back current boss Guus Hiddink in the transfer market.
The Guinean midfielder only joined Bologna over the summer from lower league side San Marino, but has yet to be called up for international honours.
