Liverpool enter four-way race for £25.5m Bundesliga starlet

Max Meyer has been linked as a surprise transfer target for Arsenal on deadline day

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is reportedly keen on making a move for £25.5million-rated Schalke youngster Max Meyer in a bid to add more creativity to his midfield, according to the Daily Star.

The Reds could be in line to make a big impression in the transfer market this month as his side continues to struggle for goals – bagging only 22 in their opening 20 games this season – which The Star claims is the worst in their 124 year history.

However, while Klopp is keen to bring the 20-year-old to Anfield, he will have to convince him that Liverpool is a more attractive option than AC Milan, Barcelona and Sevilla, who are all also keen on landing his services.

Meyer is under contract at Schalke until 2018, meaning any interested party would have to cough up a fee of £25.5million to prize him away from the club.

Meyer currently has three assists and two goals in 16 appearances this term.
