Stoke City winger Xherdan Shaqiri was in top form on Monday afternoon as he scored a brace in the first half to give his side a 2-1 lead at Everton.

The Swiss international scored the opening goal of the game after wrapping up a superb team move involving Bojan and Marko Arnatovic, but saw his effort wiped out by Romelu Lukaku.
While the Belgian striker made it 10 goals in his last 10 appearances, he wasn’t enough to ensure that the hosts went into the interval on level terms as Shaqiri struck on the stroke of half-time to give his side the lead for a second time.
After Bojan had launched a long ball forward, Shaqiri stretched to meet the ball inside the 18-yard box and somehow managed to scoop the ball over a stranded Tim Howard and into the back of the Everton net to silence Goodison Park.
Although there were initial doubts as to whether or not the former Inter star meant to score given that Arnautovic had made his way into the box, he will undoubtedly take credit for it and will hope that it is enough to secure all three points for the Potters.
Having defeated Manchester United at the weekend, Mark Hughes will be desperate to see his side build some momentum heading into the second half of the campaign as they continue to fight to break into the top half of the table.
