Euro giants admit that €12m Arsenal & Chelsea transfer target is ‘expendable’

Inter Milan president Erick Thohir has confirmed that Arsenal and Chelsea transfer target Marcelo Brozovic is ‘expendable’ as he looks to raise funds.

The Nerazzurri are in the midst of a Serie A title challenge this season and, after 17 matches, they find themselves at the top of the table, on 36 points having won 11 of their fixtures to date.

However, Inter have shown limitations-—not least in the defeat to Lazio last weekend—and Roberto Mancini could do will January investment in various areas of his squad.

Thohir has admitted—as per Goal—that he would be willing to offload some of his side’s assets, and would be willing to cash in on Brozovic for a fee of over €12 million.

The Metro have reported that a series of major EPL sides are keen on the midfielder, with the tabloid naming Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur as the three interested parties.

Of the three, it may be that the Gunners will be the keenest to recruit the talented Croatian. The North London heavyweights—themselves in the midst of a title challenge—have lost Francis Coquelin to injury, and may see the box-to-box Brozovic as the ideal man to bring some zest and dynamism back to the heart of the midfield.
