Liverpool chief Ian Ayre jets out to Belgrade to wrap up Marko Grujic deal

New Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is set to seal his first singing at the club as the club’s Chief Executive Ian Ayre has flown out to Belgrade to complete the £5million deal to sign Marko Grujic, the Daily Mirror reports.

However, Liverpool will loan the 19-year-old back to his current side Red Star Belgrade for the remainder of the season before linking up with The Reds over the summer.

If they can pull the deal off, they will have beaten the likes of Inter Milan, Chelsea and Manchester United to his signature, as he is consistently regarded as one of the brightest young players emerging in Europe right now.

Red Star are reportedly strapped for cash and have resigned themselves to losing the player, who has been in fine form so far this season, bagging himself five goals.

“I’ll try to respect the club, the fans and the general public, but again I think that for myself I have to choose the best environment where I get the chance to play and where I work with good coaches in good conditions,” he said.

“It is certain that I remain here until the end of qualifying for the Champions League. I had a talk with Liverpool but I did not receive yet any agreement. I’m still a Red Star player.”
