Chelsea wonderkid Jeremie Boga, currently on loan at Stade Rennais, has revealed that he and his family snubbed interest from Marseille in order to complete a move to Stamford Bridge.
Boga made the headlines recently in France for scoring a superb solo effort in a Ligue 1 match between his current club, Rennes, and Stade Reims earlier in the season.
The young forward—who is eligible for France and the Cote d’Ivoire—bagged his first goal for his new club after receiving a chest down from teammate Kamil Grosicki before rounding a defender and slamming the ball past Reims stopper Kossi Agassa.
Boga, who was born in Marseille, spoken in the French media this week about his decision to eschew interest from OM in order to sign for the Pensioners.
“Chelsea came to see me during a tournament in Marseille. They had head about me and they came for the final, I had a good match and ended up as player of the tournament,” Boga began, as per La Provence [via Le 10 Sport].

“OM followed me as well, but during this time, we weren’t interested, neither my family nor me. I think that Chelsea was the best choice I could have made.”
Boga, who can play as an attacking midfielder or as part of the forward line, has made eight outings since moving to Rennes.
It will be intriguing to see how Boga performs against Marseille—the club he could have signed for—when Rennes host OM in Ligue 1 on Thursday evening.
