Cristiano Ronaldo put on yet another Champions League showcase for Real Madrid, contributing to four goals in 70 minutes en route to a pristine performance and a 4-2 victory over Shakhtar Donetsk.
Ronaldo scored the lone goal of the first half thanks to a wide shot from Gareth Bale.
Real Madrid began pouring on the goals in the second half though thanks to big scores from Luka Modric and Daniel Carvajal – both off assists from Ronaldo, to take a 3-0 lead.
A fourth Ronaldo goal appeared to turn the match into a laugher, but Shakhtar managed to stun Real Madrid with three goals in the final 15 minutes. However, they were deprived of a game-tying fourth and lost 4-3.
Here are the Real Madrid player ratings from their 4-3 win over Shakhtar Donetsk.

GK Kiko Casilla – 5/10
Casilla had a clean goalpost the entire first half and solid defending around him for most of the second half. But how on earth does any self-respecting Real Madrid stopper allows three goals in less than fifteen minutes?
DF Nacho Fernandez – 6.5/10
Not much to say about Nacho, who had a very quiet day on the pitch.
DF Raphael Varane – 7/10
Forced out after just 30 minutes with an injury, but not before two successful tackles and two clears.
DF Pepe – 7/10
Overall good game for Pepe, who drew several fouls, made two tackles and cleared the ball.
DF Daniel Carvajal – 7/10
Recorded a very rare goal in the second half. His three conceded fouls were a major issue though.
MF Mateo Kovacic – 7/10
Very good game by Kovacic, who recorded
MF Casemiro – 6.5/10
Three conceded fouls put a damper on an otherwise decent game for Casemiro.
MF Luka Modric – 9/10
The team’s leading passer, Modric saw his opportunity for a goal and took it.
FW Isco – 7/10
Just about the only forward who didn’t get in on the scoring frenzy in the second half, Isco did a fantastic job of controlling the ball.
FW Ronaldo – 10/10
Just another day at the office for Ronaldo, who recorded his 450th goal to join some extremely elite company. The two assists were pretty nice too.
FW Gareth Bale – 7.5/10
Though Bale’s personal scoring drought will continue, he had the assist on Ronaldo’s first goal.
Substitutes:
Danilo – 5.5/10
In for the injured Varane, Danilo played a solid game prior to the last 15 minutes where he earned a yellow card and made several mistakes.
Toni Kroos – 5/10
Kroos replaced Modric in the middle of the second half. Really did not do much.
Karim Benzema – 4/10
Came on at the 70′ mark for Gareth Bale after the fourth goal, no contribution
