Liverpool eyeing South American Manchester United transfer target

According to reports, Liverpool are set to go head to head with Manchester United for the signing of Lazio midfielder Lucas Biglia.

The Argentine playmaker was tipped for a move to United during the summer [talkSPORT], and while he remained in Roma, the rumours are again swirling that the South American player could be on his way in January.

Speaking to FCInter1908.it, as per Le 10 Sport, the player’s agent Enzo Montepaone has admitted that Lazio president Claudio Lotito will have the final say on Biglia’s future.

“It’s up to him to decide if the player leaves in January,” the player’s representative confirmed.

In light of this news, Fichajes [via the Metro] report that Liverpool are now tempted by the deep-lying midfielder, with coach Jurgen Klopp said to be a big admirer of the 29-year-old.

The report states that the Reds will likely compete with Manchester United for the player’s signature, with Klopp viewing the former Anderlecht man as a possible key addition to his squad.

The German coach’s hopes of signing another midfielder—Borussia Monchengladbach’s Granit Xhaka—have been dealt a blow following the player’s statement this weekend that he is content on remaining in the Bundesliga for the time being [Bild via AFP].

The Anfield heavyweights may see Biglia as an ideal Plan B.
