Real Madrid were thoroughly pulverised on Saturday as they fell 4-0 to Barcelona in the first El Clasico of the Liga BBVA campaign.
A Luis Suarez brace and efforts from Neymar and Andres Iniesta condemned Los Merengues to a humiliating home defeat and heaped the pressure on under-fire boss Rafael Benitez.
But who’s to blame for a cataclysmic loss which is sure to have far-reaching repercussions? Here are the Real Madrid Player Ratings following a horrible evening in the Spanish capital.

Keylor Navas: 5/10
It’s no wonder David De Gea was so sought-after following this disastrous performance from the Costa Rica No. 1, who undid weeks of good work with an atrocious showing.
Marcelo: 6.5/10
Perhaps Real’s best defensive performer…which isn’t something we’re accustomed to saying. Made a fine clearance before the break, and he was far less exposed than some of his teammates.
Sergio Ramos: 6/10
Admittedly, perhaps Ramos deserves praise for taking injections to play through the pain barrier and feature, but it’s hard to overlook his glaring error for Suarez’s opener.
Rafael Varane: 6.5/10
Made one vital tackle, and surely won’t be humiliated like this all that often!
Danilo: 6/10
Some will say he’s still adapting to life at Real Madrid, but on this showing, he has a long way to do. Dani Carvajal might be a better bet moving forward!
Toni Kroos: 6/10
Wholly failed to deal with Ivan Rakitic and Sergio Roberto.
Luka Modric: 6/10
It’s rare that we say it, but the former Tottenham superstar was completely outplayed on the day.
Cristiano Ronaldo: 6.5/10
The superstar was nowhere to be found and this game could be considered as further evidence that he is passing his prime in the Spanish capital.
Gareth Bale: 6.5/10
Potentially rushed back from injury too soon, Bale struggled to impress and another big game passed him by.
James: 6/10
Arguably Real’s poorest outfield starter on the day, James was booked and ultimately hauled off for Isco…at least he wasn’t as bad as his replacement.
Karim Benzema: 6/10
While we’re told that Benzema was playing, we hardly saw him.
Substitutes
Dani Carvajal: Entered on the half hour mark, but the game was already far beyond Real at this point.
Isco: Introduced in place of James in the 55th minute, but struggled to assert himself and was shown a straight red card six minutes before the end.
