Ukrainian giants Shakhtar Donetsk have reportedly told Chelsea that they can sign striker Alex Teixeira providing they are able to meet his £30million asking price, according to the Daily Express.
The Brazilian is currently the top goalscorer in Europe with 19 goals from 13 appearances so far this term and is now said to be high up on Jose Mourinho’s list of priorities as the January transfer window approaches (via Express).
And a report in the London Evening Standard even claims that they will be able to land the 25-year-old should they be willing to cough up the £30m that Shakhtar are asking for.
Mourinho is believed to be hoping to bolster his squad in the new year, and hopes to be able to add to his front line as last season’s top scorer Diego Costa continues to struggle (via Express).
A loan deal for Radamel Falcao hasn’t worked out and Loic Remy has been unable to force his way into the squad on a regular basis (via Express).
However, The Express highlights that if the deal does go ahead in the new year he won’t be able to feature in the Champions League until next term as he would be cut tied.
But that isn’t thought to bother him after he spoke out about Chelsea’s interest, saying: “I have an offer, it was a pleasure to know that Chelsea want to sign me. It would be great if the transfer happens in January.”
