Manchester United have reportedly joined the race to sign Schalke starlet Leroy Sane and hope to beat rivals Liverpool to his signature, according to the Daily Express.
The 19-year-old has become one of the most sought after youngsters in Europe recently thanks to his good form with the German giants so far this season.
Liverpool were initially credited with an interest in his services, after it was reported that Jurgen Klopp is a big admirer of the player ahead of the January transfer window.
But United boss Louis van Gaal has now thrown his hat into the ring by declaring that he wants more pace and width to join his attack in the new year.
A report in The Sun claims that the Red Devils have been having the player scouted extensively, and have been told that it would cost them around £12million to prize him away from Schalke.
