Aston Villa are said to be casting an eye over young Anderlecht midfielder Samuel Bastien ahead of a possible move for him during the January transfer window, according to the Metro.
The Metro claim that the Premier League strugglers are keen on signing the 19-year-old, who is currently on loan with Italian Serie B side Unione Sportiva Avellino 1912.
And a report in Italian publication Irpinia News has suggested that manager Remi Garde has already sent scouts to monitor the Belgian youngster’s progress.
However, the Metro also reports that Liverpool have a long standing interest in the player, and even tried to strike a deal to sign him over the summer.
Avellino, though, do have an option to turn his loan deal into a permanent move at the end of the current campaign, but Villa are hopeful that they will be able to snatch him away from under the feet of the Italian minnows (via Metro).
Bastien has featured in seven games for Avellino so far, scoring one goal.
