Gerard Pique has moved to rebuff suggestions that Cesc Fabregas is leading a players’ mutiny against Jose Mourinho at Chelsea.
The reigning champions are enduring a disastrous Premier League campaign, and sit 16th in the table after 12 games. The Pensioners have already lost seven matches and find themselves on 11 points, only three clear of the relegation zone and an enormous 15 points behind leading pair Manchester City and Arsenal.
Mourinho appears unable to restore the side to their former glory; they have lost their last three league games—against West Ham United, Liverpool and Stoke City—and were also eliminated from the Capital One Cup by the Potters two weeks ago.
As such, Mourinho has come under increasing pressure, with some elements of the club’s playing staff unhappy with the coach’s actions and reportedly attempting to engineer his departure from the club, as per The Secret Footballer’s blog, via the Mirror.
As reported by Goal, Gerard Pique—who plays alongside Fabregas for Spain and was formerly his teammate at Barcelona—has denied any suggestion that the midfielder is attempting to undermine the coach behind the scenes.

“I know him well and there’s absolutely no chance of that,” the defender began, speaking after Barca’s 3-0 triumph over Villarreal on Sunday.
“We already know the British media likes to speculate, but I know how Fabregas is and it is impossible he is acting this way.”
It remains to be seen how long Mourinho can hold onto his post at Stamford Bridge, with the Blues facing Norwich City, Maccabi Tel-Aviv and Tottenham Hotspur in the space of eight days after the international break.
