Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema was taken into police custody on Wednesday morning over his possible involvement in a blackmail scandal involving France teammate Mathieu Valbuena and a sex tape, according to the Metro.
French publication AFP state that the 27-year-old arrived at a police station near Paris this morning before being placed in custody.
Former France and Liverpool striker Djibril Cisse was questioned in October about the case, which saw three other men accused of trying to extort money from Valbuena in return for the tape.
However, Cisse was quickly released and has denied any involvement in the case (via Metro).
So far, AFP have claimed that no more information about the case has been released.
