Manchester United will head to Russia in a confident mood following their comprehensive 3-0 victory over Everton at the weekend, and manager Louis van Gaal will be hoping that their Premier League performance will translate into Europe as the Red Devils still have work to do to ensure their passage out of the group stage.
United’s Champions League campaign was put back on track a fortnight ago with United recording a 2-1 win over Wolfsburg at Old Trafford.
And thanks to results elsewhere, all teams are neck and neck on three points from two games, meaning it’s all still to play for.
However, with Manchester City on the horizon, this game could prove a real test for United, as van Gaal will need to be wary of fatigue and injuries, so shuffling the pack will certainly be in order.
Marcos Rojo will likely continue at left-back with Daley Blind filling in in the centre of defence. Further forward Juan Mata could be rested with Anthony Martial moving over onto the right having terrorised Seamus Coleman over the weekend.
On the left, Memphis Depay could be in line for a recall having been left out against the Toffees, with Wayne Rooney continuing to lead the line on his own.
