Chelsea set to bank £18.5m from flop sale

Chelsea look set to complete the permanent sale of Colombian winger Juan Cuadrado to Juventus according to the Metro.

The 27-year-old South American proved a flop following his big money move to Stamford Bridge in January and was duly loaned out to Serie A title holders Juventus and has proven a moderate success.

Mourinho hopes to secure £18.5m from the sale of Cuadrado, someway below the fee Chelsea paid Fiorentina for the wide-man, and may well look to use the money to boost his faltering squad.

Chelsea have struggled in their quest to mount a bid to retain their Premier League title, losing four of their opening eight fixtures, and currently sit down in 16th spot in the table.

The likes of Eden Hazard, Oscar and new signing Pedro have failed to make a consistent enough impact this term but even so it’s highly unlikely that if Cuadrado was still on hand that he’d make in-roads into the Blues starting eleven.
