Liverpool and Barcelona are both said to be keen on luring Ilkay Gundogan away from Borussia Dortmund according to CalcioMercato.
24-year-old Westfalenstadion star Gundogan has struggled with injuries in recent seasons but is now back near his very best and enjoying a new lease of life under new Dortmund boss Thomas Tuchel.
Gundogan has helped keep Borussia Dortmund in sight of runaway Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich and it’s no surprise that his return to form and full fitness has resulted in Europe’s ‘Elite’ once again taking an interest.
Anfield boss Jurgen Klopp clearly knows Gundogan well and on the face of it a move to Liverpool seems more likely than a move to Barcelona, not least as the talented central midfielder would face a fight to secure a spot in Luis Enrique’s starting eleven with the likes of Sergio Busquets, Ivan Rakitic and Andres Iniesta being potential obstacles.

Gundogan is very much two midfielders in one, the German international being more than capable of getting stuck in with a strong tackle but also being able to drive the play forwards.
