Long considered a target for Arsene Wenger at Emirates Stadium, Paris Saint-Germain striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic appears poised to make a transfer this summer – but not to Arsenal or any other Premier League club for that matter.
According to MLSSoccer.com, Major League Soccer outfit Orlando City SC have made contact with Zlatan over a summer transfer move. The 34-year-old has reportedly expressed previous interest in moving to States.
Despite Zlatan’s continued scoring brilliance in Ligue 1, PSG has made Edinson Cavani their main man up front and spent a large sum for Angel Di Maria to play behind him.
Orlando City have been one of the more ambitious clubs in MLS in just their first year in the top American league. In addition to signing Brazilian midfield ace Kaka to the largest contract in MLS, the Florida-based club picked up one of the brightest young stars in the league when they drafted Cyle Larin with the 1st pick of the 2015 MLS SuperDraft.
Larin leads all first-year MLS players with 15 league goals, while Kaka has nine goals with six assists.
MLS Soccer reported that Orlando City have also reached out to former Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez and Brazilian forward Robinho in order to increase their starpower.
Zlatan has not gone a full season without scoring at least 10 goals in nearly ten years. He was a two-time Ligue 1 Player of the Year and led the league in scoring in his first two years with PSG.
During the final hours of the 2015 summer transfer window, Arsene Wenger was seen flying to Paris with many suspecting he was intent on making a deal for either Zlatan or Cavani.
