Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho given very public vote of confidence

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has been given the dreaded ‘vote of confidence’ by his Stamford Bridge employers in a move that may well lead to even more speculation about the manager’s long-term future at the West London outfit.

Mourinho has seen his side struggle in the defence of their Premier League title, Chelsea currently sitting way down in 16th spot having lost four of their opening eight fixtures, and faces a fight to mount a top four challenge.

52-year-old Mourinho only signed a new four year contract in August and has stated vehemently that he would not quit Chelsea.

Chelsea’s official statement reads;

“The club wants to make it clear that Jose continues to have our full support.

“As Jose has said himself, results have not been good enough and the team’s performances must improve. However, we believe that we have the right manager to turn this season around and that he has the squad with which to do it.”
