Only Sergio Aguero has as many goals over the last two matches as Arsenal ace Alexis Sanchez, but an injury suffered in the Gunners’ 3-0 win over Manchester United could slam the breaks on the Chilean superstar’s momentum.
According to the Daily Mail, Sanchez sustained a groin injury during the Man United match but is still expected to join Chile for their matches with Brazil and Peru during the international break.
The Daily Mail reported that the medical staff believe the injury is not serious, but it was also noted that he will be evaluated by Chile’s medical staff over the weekend. In addition, Arsenal are expected to maintain discussions with Chile about Sanchez’s health to avoid any unnecessary risks.
After going scoreless through the first six weeks of the Premier League season, Sanchez returned with a vengeance against Leicester City and recorded a hat trick – his first as a member of Arsenal.
The following week against Man United, Sanchez recorded a brace to give him five goals in a two-week span.
Sanchez recorded the game-winning penalty kick in the 2015 Copa America, before being given an extended rest by Arsene Wenger during the pre-season.
