Arsenal transfers this January are likely to revolve around improving up front, with the Gunners known to have tried for some ambitious targets in that position during the summer.
Recent reports look to have revealed Arsene Wenger’s five main candidates to come in in the winter, with a move for one of Chelsea’s top targets a possibility.

1) Nolito (Celta Vigo)
A La Liga forward in superb form, Nolito has really caught the eye for Celta Vigo and is rumoured to be a top target for Barcelona. Arsenal are also after the Spanish international now, and could do with his quality and eye for goal either out wide or in the centre.

2) Simone Zaza (Juventus)
Only signed by Juventus this summer, Simone Zaza does not look guaranteed a starting spot in Turin and this has seemingly put him on Arsenal’s radar, possibly on loan, this January.
3) Mauro Icardi (Inter Milan)
One of the best young attacking players in Europe, Mauro Icardi’s fine form for Inter Milan has seen him linked with Chelsea in the past and it is now claimed that Arsene Wenger wants to bring the Argentine starlet to the Emirates Stadium.
4) Michy Batshuayi (Marseille)
A fine striker who joined Marseille last season, Michy Batshuayi’s prolific form in Ligue 1 has seen him emerge as another of Arsenal’s top targets for the winter, as they look to add pace, strength and goals to their forward line.
5) Karim Benzema (Real Madrid)
A rumour that won’t go away, Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema was Arsenal’s top target in the summer and is still said to be in their plans for January, with Wenger perhaps receiving a boost in pursuit of the Frenchman as it looks like he may be replaced by Robert Lewandowski at the Bernabeu.
