Arsenal & Manchester United combined XI: 6-5, but who to? Cech vs De Gea, no room for German World Cup winner & more

Arsenal & Manchester United combined XI ahead of weekend clash.

Arsenal and Manchester United meet in the Premier League this weekend for one of the biggest fixtures of the season, and here’s a look at how their best players could all fit into one superb combined XI…

GK: David de Gea (Manchester United)

One of the best goalkeepers in the world, it must be said that Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea is ahead of Arsenal’s Petr Cech at the moment, even if the former Chelsea man has had the better career.

DR: Hector Bellerin (Arsenal)

One of the best young defenders in Europe, Arsenal right-back Hector Bellerin is a superb attacking full-back and currently looks a better bet than United new-boy Matteo Darmian.

DL: Nacho Monreal (Arsenal)

A player who scored against United in the FA Cup last season, Nacho Monreal has shown tremendous improvement in recent months and is now surely one of the most underrated defenders in the game.

DC: Chris Smalling (Manchester United)

Another hugely improved performer, Chris Smalling has become one of Manchester United’s most important players this season and Arsenal fans will be wishing they had signed him now!

DC: Laurent Koscielny (Arsenal)

One of the top defenders in the Premier League, Laurent Koscielny is certainly in this line up ahead of Daley Blind at the moment as the Dutchman learns his new role.

MC: Morgan Schneiderlin (Manchester United)

A player Arsenal tried to sign, Morgan Schneiderlin would have been excellent alongside Santi Cazorla, and he comfortably makes it into this combined XI.

MC: Santi Cazorla (Arsenal)

A player in top form for some time now, Santi Cazorla is easily one of the best midfielders in the Premier League and gets in ahead of the likes of Bastian Schweinsteiger and Ander Herrera.

AMR: Theo Walcott (Arsenal)

Although he’s mainly playing up front this season, Theo Walcott takes a place on the right flank here after his fine start, looking more convincing than many of United’s options out wide.

AML: Alexis Sanchez (Arsenal)

Another Arsenal wide-man, Alexis Sanchez has had a slow start but remains one of the best forwards in Europe, and now has four goals in his last two games.

AMC: Juan Mata (Manchester United)

One of United’s most important players, Juan Mata is far out-shining Mesut Ozil in that number ten role at the moment and gets the nod in our combined XI.

FC: Anthony Martial (Manchester United)

After a flying start for United, Anthony Martial gets in ahead of Olivier Giroud and his own team-mate Wayne Rooney, looking like potentially one of the best strikers in Europe.
