Louis van Gaal watched on as his Man United side collected their third straight Premier League victory as his side ran out easy 3-0 winners over struggling Sunderland.
Wayne Rooney ended his goal drought and Memphis Depay collected his first Premier League goal but the Dutch boss was unconcerned about who netted, with the three points all that mattered.
“It doesn’t make any difference who scores for me and for the team. You have to score one goal more than the opponent,”
“Of course, personally for [Wayne] Rooney or [Anthony] Martial or [Memphis] Depay it’s important. And as a coach I’m happy that Rooney and Depay have now scored.
“But with Martial I am happy that he forms an attacking point, that he is always making runs and runs to the first post. But he can be better and other players can be better.
“That’s why I don’t want to say too much about individual performances. When I say what a player can improve it is in the press and you don’t know what is happening with all your remarks.
“You know as a journalist also that he [Rooney] shall score.”
