Man Utd predicted line up to take on Southampton.
Our Man Utd predicted line up for this afternoon’s game against Southampton – will the returning Wayne Rooney go straight back into the starting line up? And who will replace Luke Shaw at left-back?
GK: David de Gea
Back in goal now after missing the start of the season, David de Gea should continue as number one for Manchester United against Southampton.
DR: Matteo Darmian
A fine summer signing, Matteo Darmian will surely take his usual spot at right-back for the trip to St Mary’s.
DL: Marcos Rojo
Although normally a centre-back, Marcos Rojo can fill in on the left and was the player Louis van Gaal picked to replace Luke Shaw when he went off injured against PSV.

Manchester United rumours
DC: Chris Smalling
A key defender for United, Chris Smalling will almost certainly be in the starting XI again this weekend and will be key to helping the team get a win.
DC: Daley Blind
He may be a contender to move to left-back in Shaw’s absence, but Daley Blind remains in the centre in our Man Utd predicted line up.
MC: Morgan Schneiderlin
Benched for the last two games, summer signing Morgan Schneiderlin will surely be brought back into Van Gaal’s side this weekend as he faces his old club Southampton.
MC: Ander Herrera
A classy playmaker in fine form, Ander Herrera’s excellent performance against Liverpool last week has surely earned him a place in the team against the Saints.
AMR: Memphis Depay
Having scored against his old club in midweek, Memphis Depay looks in good form and will likely keep his place in the Reds’ attacking midfield.
AML: Ashley Young
In and out of the side this season, Ashley Young is another contender to play left-back as a replacement for Shaw, but it seems more likely he’ll start further forward.
AMC: Juan Mata
In the number ten role, Juan Mata is an important part of this United side and will be key to opening up Southampton today with his creativity.
FC: Anthony Martial
Concluding our Man Utd predicted line up, Anthony Martial starts again despite the return of Wayne Rooney. The off-form England international may not be fit enough to start again straight away, and his poor record in front of goal this season means he doesn’t necessarily deserve to displace the Frenchman right now.
