Top 5 Premier League managers in danger of the sack: Chelsea’s Mourinho, Rodgers at Liverpool & more

Premier League sack race – one of these five will surely be next!

It may only be September, but some Premier League managers already look in serious danger of the sack, including surprise names such as Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho and Liverpool‘s Brendan Rodgers…

1) Jose Mourinho (Chelsea)

A Premier League champion just a few short months ago, Jose Mourinho is struggling badly at Chelsea this season and appears to have lost the dressing room. After a big row with club doctor Eva Carneiro in the draw with Swansea, it looks like growing numbers of the players and staff are turning on the outspoken Portuguese coach, particularly with the team’s form as bad as it is.

2) Brendan Rodgers (Liverpool)

The favourite among most bookmakers to be sacked next, Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers had a bad season last term and is struggling again so far this year. At no point in the campaign, bar the first half of a 0-0 draw at Arsenal, have the Reds looked convincing in their style of play, while not enough key positions were strengthened in the summer.

3) Dick Advocaat (Sunderland)

Bottom of the table, Sunderland manager Dick Advocaat hasn’t managed to lift the Black Cats out of the mess they were in last season, despite being treated as a hero when he narrowly kept them in the Premier League.

4) Steve McClaren (Newcastle)

Winless so far and with only three goals, Newcastle United manager Steve McClaren is surely under pressure after spending a lot of money and failing to get the Magpies up the table after last season’s disappointments.

5) Tim Sherwood (Aston Villa)

After a total collapse against Leicester City this weekend, it’s clear that Tim Sherwood is not the answer at Aston Villa. Many would have seen this coming after his work at Tottenham, but it’s becoming all the more likely that he won’t last long as a Premier League manager.
