Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea is ready to make his first appearance of the new season, Mirror Sport reports.
The 24-year-old has not featured in any of the Red Devils’ first six games as speculation over his future threatened to overshadow the club’s start to the new season and new signing Sergio Romero has been installed as the club’s number one by manager Louis van Gaal.
De Gea looked set to depart Old Trafford during the summer transfer window, however, his much-anticipated move to Liga BBVA giants Real Madrid fell through on deadline day due to a mix-up between the two clubs over paperwork.
Any suggestions that the Spanish international, who was an unused substitute in the Euro 2016 qualifier against Slovakia at the weekend, will not be in the right frame of mind to play for United again have been dismissed by his national team manager Vicente del Bosque:
“He’s in condition to play. We have talked with him and he is fine,” the Spaniard revealed.
“I do not know if he will play or not but he is OK and that’s all I wanted to know. He is a mature guy and is ready to play without suffering any burden of what happened.”
“I have talked to him. I did not want to give him any advice because many people have already done it.”
“I just asked whether he was in condition to play and he told me yes,” del Bosque added.
