Arsenal in late bid to sign versatile international forward, player excited by Gunners link

Arsenal have reportedly failed with a deadline day loan bid to sign Dynamo Moscow striker Aleksandr Kokorin, according to Russian source Sports.ru.

With additional information from the Metro, it seems the Gunners hoped to land the 24-year-old Russian international on a season-long deal, with a view to a permanent move at the end of it.

Although Kokorin himself was reportedly keen on this potential transfer, his club Dynamo have rejected it and could kill Arsene Wenger’s hopes of securing a last-minute signing on deadline day.

Arsenal fans won’t exactly be thrilled about this link anyway, with the club arguably in need of far more established stars to solve their issues up front, with concerns that Olivier Giroud and Danny Welbeck aren’t good enough to lead the line for a side with title ambitions.

Still, Kokorin himself has yet to show real potential as a world class player, scoring ten goals in each of the last two seasons and never managing more than 13 in one campaign in his entire career so far.

There have been rumours of other possible Arsenal moves, but the Daily Mail‘s claims that Edinson Cavani could be on his way looks a little optimistic now as the deadline is just hours away.
