Man Utd Martial – five signings who’d be better.
With the Man Utd Martial deal looking increasingly likely to go through today or tomorrow, here’s a look at five alternatives the Red Devils should still be considering ahead of the overpriced youngster.
At £36m, the Frenchman looks a real gamble given his lack of experience at the top level, having not even been a regular for AS Monaco last season.
These realistic targets (no Neymars or Bales) would surely be worth a late punt:
1) Robert Lewandowski (Bayern Munich)
Expensive at £44m, Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski could still be available this summer, and the Polish international is certainly the calibre of player Manchester United need to be trying for.

2) Zlatan Ibrahimovic (PSG)
A surprise target for Manchester United this summer, PSG striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic could be open to a late move to the Premier League and is another proven big name capable of giving the Reds what they need.
3) Edinson Cavani (PSG)
Another PSG star with a proven scoring record at the top level, Edinson Cavani has been linked with big clubs like United and Arsenal this summer, and reports suggest a deadline day move could still be possible.
4) Sadio Mane (Southampton)
Southampton striker Sadio Mane was tipped for a late move to United a few days ago, and it still looks like the Senegalese forward would be a better option than Martial after proving himself a very capable performer in English football.
5) Karim Benzema (Real Madrid)
An ambitious target, Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema seems likely to be staying where he is after snubbing a move to Arsenal, though it could still be worth a late bid for the world class Frenchman.
