A look at the highest earner from each of the Premier League’s top six clubs – Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool and Tottenham – showing that the richest footballers are not always the best…
6) Tottenham – Emmanuel Adebayor
On just over £100,000 per week, Emmanuel Adebayor is a ridiculous top earner for Tottenham, who have many, many better players in the shape of Harry Kane, Christian Eriksen and Hugo Lloris. It’s fair to say, the Togolese striker is not pulling his weight at White Hart Lane and hasn’t for some time, making him a very big mistake in the transfer market indeed.

5) Manchester United – Wayne Rooney
Another overpaid Premier League star, Wayne Rooney looks far from at his best this season, despite going some way to silencing his critics with a hat-trick against Club Brugge. Still, for £250,000 per week, the Manchester United captain needs to be contributing much more at the moment.
4) Liverpool – Christian Benteke
A new signing this summer, Christian Benteke has already been talked about as a risky buy at £32.5m, and it’s fair to say he probably doesn’t deserve to immediately become Liverpool’s highestt earner with wages of £140,000 per week, more than club captain Jordan Henderson and other big names like Philippe Coutinho and Daniel Sturridge.
3) Arsenal – Mesut Ozil
A spot that should surely be reserved for star player Alexis Sanchez, but it’s Mesut Ozil that is Arsenal’s highest earner with wages of £140,000 per week, which is perhaps not so surprising given he is also the Gunners’ record signing at £42.5m.
2) Manchester City – Yaya Toure
A superb midfielder who is rightly the highest earner at his club, Manchester City star Yaya Toure is one of the best players in the world and would be truly irreplaceable at the Etihad Stadium. Just ahead of another star player, Sergio Aguero, the Ivory Coast international makes £220,000 every week.
1) Chelsea – Eden Hazard
On £200,000 per week, Chelsea star Eden Hazard is deservedly the top earner at Stamford Bridge, having estabished himself as probably the best player in the Premier League last season as he played a pivotal role in guiding the Blues to the title.
