David De Gea looks set to stay at Manchester United this summer as the club are not expecting a bid from Liga BBVA giants Real Madrid before the transfer window closes, Telegraph Sport reports.
The Spanish goalkeeper has been heavily linked with a move to the Santiago Bernabeu this summer as Los Blancos look for an replacement for legendary stopper Iker Casillas, who joined Porto earlier in the transfer window.
Madrid are keen on signing De Gea but are yet to meet United’s asking price and there has been reports in the media over the past week that they will make a bid before or on deadline day next week.
However, officials at Old Trafford are doubtful that an offer for the 24-year-old will be tabled and that could result in De Gea leaving on a free transfer next summer.
The United player of the year for the last two seasons has just a year remaining on his current deal and faces a fight to reclaim his place in the starting XI if he stays at the club as summer signing Sergio Romero has impressed in between the sticks in his five appearances.
