Reported Tottenham transfer target Victor Wanyama has been left out of the Southampton squad for their UEFA Europa League playoff second leg tie against FC Midtjylland on Thursday night.
The Saints revealed the news via their official Twitter account on Wednesday evening and the Kenyan midfielder is set to sit out the game in Denmark with a stomach infection, however, the timing of his absence will surely further fuel speculation that he will depart St Mary’s Stadium this summer.
His attentions to leave before the transfer window closes became apparent over the weekend [via Mail Sport] and a move to North London and a reunion with former manager Mauricio Pochettino has been mooted in the media [via Mirror Sport].
According to Sky Sports the Saints are understood to be keen on avoiding selling another one of their best players after losing the likes of Adam Lallana, Morgan Schneiderlin and Luke Shaw in the past 12 months.
