Piers Morgan, television personality and celebrity Arsenal supporter, has revealed that he attempted to convince Chelsea legend John Terry to swap Stamford Bridge for the Emirates Stadium in a chat on Tuesday night.
With an ongoing pursuit of potential replacement John Stones, a half-time substitution in the defeat to Manchester City, and a red card in the following week against West Bromwich Albion, it’s not been the best of starts to the season for the Blues skipper.
And – what with Arsenal’s frailty at the back – Morgan was looking to exploit Terry’s rather worrying situation in west London with a not-so-subtle act of persuasion to head to the north of the capital:
He also confessed that Terry was ‘disappointingly charming’:
You can’t blame Morgan for trying his luck – particularly with Frank Lampard and Petr Cech having sealed shock moves to Premier League rivals over the past two summers.
But John Terry to Arsenal? Now that would be a transfer special.
